I have bought many computers from Amazon over these past years. The recent purchase, Toshiba Satellite L500-1XJ developed a fault within a few days of initial setup. This is the first time I have a problem. A week after the initial work, the mouse pad died and it has not functioned since. Both right and left buttons also died. I fitted a wireless mouse USB and it works fine. I am not sure what to do with it ... return or keep on with the external wireless mouse? Did any of you encounter such a problem? I am still testing to see if it develops any other faults.

This is a fantastic laptop.There was a problem with the screen but Amazon replaced it immediately.The battery life is approx 9 hours with plenty of use,great value for money.

I bought this laptop on behalf of a friend who is not computer literate and therefore asked me to set it up.
The whole process went smoothly, but I was surprised and disappointed to find there was no printed manual with the package. This is important to someone in my friends situation. I understand there may be something online, but this was not appropriate.
Also, I did not like the fact that a trial version of McAffee was embedded in the system, to the effect that it 'managed' the Windows Firewall and constantly nags to update to the full version. This is a practice I abhor and would have been sufficient for me to return the laptop.
However, friend is 'happy' with his purchase, so that's fine.

This notebook is in my opinion OK nothing special & certainly not as good as my old HP. Although it is more powerful it is not as quick as I had hoped & the screen definition is just OK.
